Abstract

CARMINATI, Andrés. Celulosa Argentina During the Last Military Dictatorship (1976-1983). Conflict, Repression, Discipline and Restructuring. Secuencia [online]. 2025, n.121, e2241.  Epub Mar 31, 2025. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i121.2241.

In this paper, I examine worker conflict and the different types of discipline and repression in Celulosa Argentina’s main factory during the last military dictatorship (1976-1983). Based on a case study, I reconstruct and periodize various worker conflicts and repressive episodes in the factory. I also attempt to link these processes to the political-economic circumstances and the restructuring of the paper industry during this period. Although this is one of the most important paper mills in the country, it has scarcely been studied. This paper is a contribution that broadens, complexifies and enriches the history of the working class in Argentina during the last military dictatorship.

Keywords : Celulosa Argentina; working class; dictatorship; conflict; Gran Rosario.
