The article provides an overview of the history of journalism in the revolutionary decades, tracing the link between journalism and society. The aim here is to explore the different attitudes expressed by each of the revolutionary governments towards the press, journalists and freedom of expression. As part of a wider research project on the topic, this review suggests that the Mexican public sphere was strengthened between 1910 and 1940 due to the force acquired by the idea of freedom of the press and expression, the political strength acquired by revolutionary journalists and the weakness of the state.
