In early 20th century Argentina, the actions of women -who nonetheless continue to perform their household roles as wives and mothers- were expressed in various organizations that sought to create an operational space to exercise their civil and political rights. During the time of the interventionist, planning, nationalistic, popular and welfare state led, since 1946, by Juan D. Peron, women won the right to vote and became citizens (1947). The degree of continuity and change implied by the presence of populism in power in relation to the state's involvement of women is the central theme examined in this paper from a historical perspective chat confronts realizations and discourse. The article begins by characterizing the era of Peronist Argentina, its hererogeneiry and confrontations and the cultural continuities chat transcend the proposals of this unusual expression of the Argentinean State.
