In the metropolitan area of Monterrey (MAM), most full-time domestic service is currently performed by young migrants and Indians who constitute an especially vulnerable sector; one often the victim of discriminatory practices that constrain or reduce their rights. Based on a case study, this article discovers the tensions between democratic and hierarchical values in Mexico, and the difficulties involved in assuring respect for the human and labor rights of domestic employees.
