FERNANDEZ-HERRERA, Ernesto; ACOSTA-RAMOS, Marcelo y PINTO, Víctor Manuel. Effect of fungicide application on tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) bligth (Phytophthora capsici Leo.) in the greenhouse. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2007, vol.25, n.2, pp.186-189. ISSN 2007-8080.
Three systemic fungicides were evaluated at high and low rates in curative and preventive applications on 35 day old tomato plants var. Rio Grande inoculated with Phytophthora capsici. The high rate of metalaxyl 46.2% and fosetyl-aluminum 80% in curative application produced the lowest disease incidence (16.7%), 34 days after inoculation (dai) as compared to the control (100%); both fungicides showed a control effectiveness of 83.3%. Metalaxyl 46.2% and metalaxil 25.3% did not allow disease development in preventive applications. Fosetyl-aluminum 80% applied preventively, showed a 83.3% effectiveness to control the disease, but it was not statistically different from its curative application. Chemical control of tomato wilt was more effective when fungicides were used in preventive applications rather than curative applications.
