This article intends to elucidate the influence of how Aristotle deals with pleasure (hēdonē) on Epicurean hedonism. First, it analyzes the role of pleasure in Aristotelian ethics as well as the taxonomy of different pleasures; secondly, it also analyzes the classification of pleasures in Epicurean hedonism, as it appears in Epicurus’s texts and fragments; finally, in order to establish the range and limits of the comparison, the similarities and differences between both theories are pointed out.
