Studies about competence on education production, constitute a primary tool for the continuous improvement and for the definition of institutional policies. Due to the previous, because of the heterogeneous nature of the methodology used on studies that have been made and, to the fact that there are institutions that do not yet dispose of any analysis about its graduate students, the research group "Grupo de estudios en economía y empresa" -GEE- of the EAFIT University present this article, whose objective is to build a reference framework that approaches the methodological aspects, as well as the theoretical ones, in the studies of education economy.
