Distributed leadership (LD) contributes to the knowledge of influence processes in school organizations, especially in more specialized and complex teaching modalities, such as secondary vocational education. Through the multifactorial LD questionnaire, this study compares the perception of the current situation (CS) and the expected situation (ES) of the distribution of leadership. The sample is composed of ten Chilean secondary vocational schools with sustained improvement. The results show that both managers and teachers perceive a distribution of lead-ership in their schools; however, there is a lack of strategies to prepare leaders to renew management positions. Likewise, there is a significant difference when comparing the perception of the CS versus ES. Finally, both managers and non-managers agree that developing shared lead-ership favors student learning outcomes.
