This article analyzes the public transportation trips of students at a secondary school of agricultural education in La Plata (Argentina). The aim is to describe the learning experiences faced by students trav- elling from their homes to the educational institution. The argument of the text consists of problematizing the learning experience that young people go through to appropriate public transportation, the care tasks provided by their families and the recognition of urban dynamics. The methodology was qualitative, based on ethnographic records and in- terviews with teachers, authorities, drivers, and students. It was also complemented with administrative records of the institution. The results show that the experience of school trips broadens the mobility horizons of young people, based on the recognition of urban dynamics and the appropriation of public transportation.
