Abstract

MORAN REYES, Ariel Antonio. Archival Education at The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) (1956-2022). Perfiles educativos [online]. 2024, vol.46, n.183, pp.168-185.  Epub Oct 07, 2024. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2024.183.61103.

This article presents a historical reflection on the evolution of the Archivist as a professional option at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as well as an analysis of its development as an information science. From the documentary research and institutional records, it is guided the development of the own bachelor within the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters until the last years, with a new national archival culture resulting from the enactment of federal legislation on the subject. Generating a broad perspective on their careers allows: a) establishing whether current institutional conditions contribute to the professional development of their graduates based on the identity and autonomy of their field, or if they only accentuate disciplinary dependence; b) ascertain the relevance of its current curricular design and possible paths of deepening to adapt it, based on its own theoretical advances.

Keywords : Higher education; bachelor’s degree; archivistics; archivonomy; study plans; historical analysis.
