Abstract

GUZMAN GOMEZ, Carlota. The Participation of Families as Sustenance of Mexican Rural High School. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2024, vol.46, n.183, pp.23-38.  Epub Oct 07, 2024. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2024.183.61306.

In this article the different modalities of participation of families to sustain Mexican community tele-high school is analyzed. The research is qualitative; the information was obtained through in-depth interviews applied to staff managers. The following modalities of participation were found: 1) generation of economic resources: cooperations payment and fund-raising activities; 2) lobbying local and state authorities for support; and 3) activities for the operation of the facilities: cleaning, maintenance, remodeling, or construction. In the absence of support from the state and federal authorities, the material support and operation of schools fall to the most vulnerable families. Thus, the right to education of young people and the State’s obligation to provide free, equitable and inclusive education are not fulfilled.
