This article analyzes job and wage inequality among full time and adjunct professors in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). We present an estimate of the per hour and full-time income of more than 30 thousand professors and academics-administrators. In order to clearly visualize the degree of inequality present within UNAM, we used three comparisons: 1) adjunct vs full time professor wages at UNAM; 2) adjunct professor wages at UNAM when compared to similar positions in other Mexican universities; 3) the level of inequality at UNAM vs other universities. In addition, we suggest some mechanisms that explain how inequality is repeated among different types of academics and how the hoarding of opportunities and resources is perpetuated to the benefit of full-time professors and the detriment of adjunct positions.
