Abstract

CHIECHER, Analía Claudia  and  BOSSOLASCO, María Luisa. How do you prepare for an exam? Comparative study between face-to-face and distance modality students. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.173, pp.94-107.  Epub Feb 14, 2022. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2021.173.59973.

The present article describes the learning strategies applied by college students (from both in-person and distance modalities) when preparing for an exam, and compares the results obtained by each strategy in students with different academic performance levels. The survey featured a total of 213 first year economics students from a public university in Argentina. At the end of their first semester, students from both in-person and distance modalities were handed an open questionnaire which asked them to describe how they prepare for exams. The obtained data was analyzed through a qualitative perspective, with the aid of the IRaMuTeQ software. The results reveal several differences in the ways through which students of the different modalities prepare for exams, as well as between students with different academic performance levels. The final discussion revolves around some recommendations that could favor achievement trajectories in-person and distance modalities students.
