Abstract

ROCHA, Milagros María. How does the education on women and gender takes shape in the study of History as a career?. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.172, pp.111-123.  Epub Jan 31, 2022. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2021.172.59796.

This study inquires the reasons that cause gender and women issues to become part of the training of History Teachers at the National University of La Plata (UNLP, by its acronym in Spanish) in Argentina. Through 40 online questionnaires, we collected the answers of important teachers of said subjects in the History’s department core courses. Furthermore, we analyzed the subject curriculum design and consulted with teachers of the career. The paper is structured around to main interrogations: How does the teaching of women and gender take shape in the study of History as a career? And how do we train others and ourselves in gender issues? Chair meetings turned out to be the spaces in which the inclusion of materials and bibliography referring to women’s and gender issues was most encouraged, followed by the influence of members of the chair.
