This work analyzes a document drawn up by experts about the language and the selection of contents. The objective of this analysis is to think about and to propose alternative pedagogical approaches to the ones that have been inherited from the constitution of public school in Uruguay, and also to compare with analogous aspects in other nations with similar problems. The author proposes reflections that, starting from very specific curricular matters, open onto the more general problem of the educational policies, the selection of contents and their psycho-pedagogical implications, and make possible a further analysis about aspects related to culture, identity, education and pedagogical mediation from a critical point of view.
