ARAGON BORJA, Laura Edna. Personality profile of university undergraduate students in Psychology: The case of the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Iztacala in Mexico. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.133, pp.68-87. ISSN 0185-2698.
The research that is presented in this article had as purpose to describe the personality profile of students of Psychology at the Faculty for Higher Studies (Facultad de Estudios Superiores, FES) Iztacala of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and to do so the author applied the 16PF questionnaire to a sample of 433 students between 1st and 8th semester. Broadly speaking, in order to establish the standard the factors taken into account were emotional expressiveness, sociability, confidence, dominance, self-sufficiency, intelligence, impulsiveness and self-esteem. As positive characteristics they recorded the students as in possession of a liberal thought, little conventional and not so much attached to moral standards; they are compassionate, sensitive and emotional, and also spontaneous, sincere and frank. However, during the first three years of the course they are emotionally unstable and immature. The results are discussed in the light of the suitable features for the profession and of the need to strengthen the characteristics that make possible for psychologists to carry out properly their profession in the interest of their patients.
