LUENGAS AGUIRRE, María Isabel e SAENZ, Laura Patricia. Sustainable human development, human rights and sexuality in the field of health education. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2009, vol.31, n.123, pp.91-107. ISSN 0185-2698.
In Mexico Ex-President Vicente Fox proposed an "educational revolution" based on human and social development, and the current President, Felipe Calderón, presents us the idea of sustainable human development. But although those proposals are to be linked with the concerns expressed by the UNESCO about higher education (1997), document in which the organization sets out its will to educate to peace and the human rights, those ideas had no impact in the curricula neither in the structure of the higher education institutions in order to create appropriate learning environments that could be consistent with this proposals. This article breaks down the assumptions on which the paradigms of sustainable human development and human rights are built and adds sexuality, since all those would help to draw up appropriate environments for learning and would be extremely useful to guide curriculum design in the area of health education.
