The purpose of this paper is to argue about the place of the idea of transmission of knowledge and content, within constructivist and situated perspectives, considering such problem from a "psyco-educational" point of view. This issue is situated in the present discussion around developing and educational psychology; the paper will try to deal it with some questions considered important to understand school practices, and will also try to identify some paradoxes that can take place when constructivist perspectives are adopted without enough attention to the politic al and cultural characteristics of school practices. The work also tries to show how contextualist and situational perspectives, in any of its forms, can help to open a critical agenda for the problems of development, diversity and school practices. The criticism that constructivist view makes in education imply a deep criticism to the modern format of school.
