This article deals with the ideological aspects which are involved in the psychological theories when those are applied to special education, particularly in the case of deaf children. In the first place, the author takes into consideration the problem that represents the diversity of interpretations about ideology Two perspectives are analysed: on one hand, a negative perspective that includes the false consciousness and the symbolic violence; on the other hand, a positive one in terms of Utopia. In both cases, the author analyses the ways in which the psychological theories about intelligence or learning convey social meanings.
