Cuarto Creciente was a lesbian feminist group in Mexico City known for promoting an esoteric notion of female emancipation. Based on an analysis of articles, newspaper notes, and the organization’s papers, this article examines the genesis of Cuarto Creciente’s spiritual discourse, its impact on the feminist discourse of the time, and the characteristics that gave original meaning to its interpretation of female spirituality within the framework of neo-Mexicanism, urban popular movements, and lesbian feminism.
