Abstract
TREJO DELARBRE, Raúl. Those Were the Days. Social Culture, Creativity and Freedom in 1968 Mexico. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2018, vol.63, n.234, pp.153-176. ISSN 0185-1918. https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.2448492xe.2018.234.65559.
In 1968 there was a social culture vividly interested in the development of art and thought both inside and outside Mexico. The concern with social inequality, the irritation against the rigidity of the political system and even the rejection of the authoritarian regime that was voiced in the streets between July and September of that year, were preceded by the expression of those same emotions and convictions in theaters and cinemas, exhibition galleries, the best-known books and, from time to time, in the media. Despite the official restrictions, which reached blatant censorship, there was an intense cultural life and the artistic creation found appropriate channels to develop without restraint.
