Through the study of discourses and images produced by children from a Mixtec community, this paper shows the way in which palm weaving acts as an axis for the continuity between the traditional past and a contradictory urban future. The research focuses on the analysis of children's representations of palm weaving and proposes a way in which Design Theory could be employed within the field of contemporary anthropological research.
