HIGUERA BONFIL, Antonio. Expansión de los testigos de Jehová en México y Quintana Roo. Cuicuilco [online]. 2013, vol.20, n.57, pp.297-319. ISSN 0185-1659.
Discussing religious diversity in Mexico today, is to approach a commonplace topic. It is known that many Christian churches have set down roots throughout the country, however, there is not always a precise image of where they are, the size of their congregations or which regions of the country contain one or more options for believers. This article addresses the historic evolution of one of the most dynamic religious minorities in the nation, Jehovah's Witnesses. Although the general population and housing census conducted in the years 2000 and 2010 comprise the general sources of information, there are also official data from the Watch Tower Society, the coordinating institution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mexico, to ascertain the nationwide growth of this religious sect over the last 30 years, after focusing on southeastern Mexico, to gain a precise picture of what happened in the last decade in the state of Quintana Roo, located at the point where Central America and the Caribbean Sea converge. The work was conceived so that maps serve as graphic instruments to express the religious change under study.
