Abstract

This article describes the clinical sessions in a psychiatric hospital. The clinical sessions were intended to Teaching: diagnosis, therapy, research, and theory; however, seen through them different circumstances meetings of hospital work: needs and demands of work, reproduction of hierarchies, staff morale situations, initiation rituals, struggles and alliances. This document is the result of an ethnographic study of a psychiatric hospital in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The conceptual approach to the psychiatric hospital conceived as a "micro" social structure, dynamics and timing of their own, but linked and immersed in a larger social and political system. Medicine, as well as being a product and cultural system, is a political practice, taking into account the complex of beliefs, attitudes and practices associated with health, cure disease and mental illness takes place under the influence of a health bureaucracy with its own premises.
