In this paper I make a sketch of the main approaches of analysis about indigenous rituals that have appeared throughout twentieth and twentieth-first century. That is why I only retake some representative ethnographies (it is not a paper that approaches every single one of the studies on the ritual done in Mexico) to gather from their pages the theoretical principals that sustain them.
