POSADAS VELAZQUEZ, Ruslan y LOPEZ LLANOS, Víctor Hugo. The institutionalization of individualization in contemporary society. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2022, n.56, pp.151-182. Epub 14-Ene-2025. ISSN 0185-1616. https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2022.56.82564.
The following article deals with the genesis of the current process of individualization in contemporary society, highlighting the way in which capitalism in its neoliberal aspect has built the social imaginary that allows individualism to be legitimized as well as institutionalized. In this sense, individualism is, fundamentally, a historical social system, the product of the various transformations that, since the birth of modern industrial capitalism in Western Europe, gradually imposed a form of organization in the various political, cultural and economic spheres.
