Abstract

CARDENAS ARGUEDAS, Sol. Mechanical effects of mixed electoral systems: Jalisco and Mexico City, 1995/1997-2018. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2021, n.52, pp.129-168.  Epub Sep 06, 2024. ISSN 0185-1616.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2021.52.79337.

This article performs a comparative study at the local level of two mixed electoral systems in Mexico, the Federal District (now Mexico City) and Jalisco. It speci ically addresses mechani-cal effects through the analysis of seventeen elections (eight and nine, respectively). The text presents, on the one hand, a proposal to carry out this analysis; and on the other, it answers two questions: what mechanical effects are observed in these entities in relation to the technical elements and to the electoral system as a whole? And what are the changes observed in these through the different periods studied?

Keywords : Mexico; Mexico City; Jalisco; mixed electoral systems; elections.
