This work reviews some aspects of the design and implementation of pension reforms in Mexico. Through its content, it proposes a comprehensive review of the Retirement Savings System (SAR) built on the promising results of the reform to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in 1995, during the government administration of Ernesto Zedillo; and its subsequent extension in 2007, to the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).
