This work aims to shed light on the history of the death masks of Napoleon Bonaparte kept in Mexico. Through the examination of a series of files in archives, bibliography and newspaper testimonies, an attempt is made to account for the origin of these secular relics, establishing the link between their history as Mexican artistic and cultural heritage with that of the exploits of Napoleon.
