The present article analyses the reception in Mexico of the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky between 1940-1961-the dates of his first and his last tours in this country-on the basis of his influence on Spanish musicians in exile, with special attention to musicologist and composer Jesús Bal y Gay, exiled in Mexico between 1939 and 1965. The article examines, first of all, Stravinsky's first tours in Mexico, and also his links with Bal y Gay from the diaries of Vera Stravinsky and Robert Craft, among other sources. Secondly, it analyzes the presence of the Russian composer in the writings of the Spanish musicologist, valuing the role of Bal y Gay as a diffuser of Stravinsky's musical and literary work in the Hispano-American scene.
