Abstract
VARGAS CETINA, Gabriela. Reflexiones sobre el trabajo de campo: la utopía intersubjetiva en un mundo desigual. Nueva antropol [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.83, pp.163-186. ISSN 0185-0636.
Anthropology is one of the few disciplines, if not the only one, based on a utopian ideal of inter-subjectivity, always in search of horizontal relationships between researcher and local people. Here I reflect, through my own ethnographic experiences, on the challenges represented by these demands, given the contexts of actual, manifold inequality everywhere. I have found that inequality among local languages and linguistic groups relate to inequality among types of music and music performers. I then show how in the city of Merida, Yucatan, linguistic and musical inequality also relate to inequalities in musicians' access to digital and other resources, even if the municipal and state governments have launched a program of digital well-being expected to bring access to the digital world to all sectors of the regional population.
Keywords : Ethnography; inter-subjectivity; inequality.
