Abstract

ROMAN REYES, Patricia. Análisis del papel de la familia en la superviviencia de los micronegocios en la ciudad de México. Nueva antropol [online]. 2011, vol.24, n.74, pp.125-157. ISSN 0185-0636.

In this study, the author proposes to analyze the work activities of members of different family nuclei in small business establishments in Mexico City, as well as the repercussions their work has on their family life and the impact of family dynamics on business activities. Given that perspective, the article seeks to provide means for answering the following concern: Do the work activities of family members in the small business and the relationships arising between them constitute a form of production that makes it possible to ensure reproduction of both the economic unit and consumption and supply of the family unit? The author has attempted to link theoretical and empirical research on the site of production and reproduction by analyzing in-depth interviews conducted with men and women owners of micro-businesses in Mexico City.

Keywords : family; micro-businesses; production; reproduction.
