Throughout the months from May to August 2022, using a black light trap, melolonthid scarabs were sampled in a low deciduous forest area in the coastal region in the Oaxaca state, southeastern Mexico. Within the collected material, specimens of an undescribed species of the genus Phyllophaga Harris, 1827 (s. str.) belonging to the rorulenta species group were identified. The new species is described here as Phyllophaga inifap sp. nov., which Phyllophaga acapulca Saylor, 1943 is the most similar species, but it differs in the male genitalia, mainly. A total of 1,055 specimens of this species were collected, with a sexual ratio of 1.6 males per female. Phyllophaga inifap sp. nov. presented five emergence peaks during sampling period.
