Abstract
RODRIGUEZ-OROZCO, Alain R.. Religion and poetic reason in María Zambrano. Notes for medical training. Gac. Méd. Méx [online]. 2024, vol.160, n.6, pp.676-683. Epub Feb 07, 2025. ISSN 2696-1288. https://doi.org/10.24875/gmm.24000281.
Poetic reason is a method proposed by María Zambrano to access consolidated knowledge that integrates the rational and irrational of existence. To support it, the philosopher appropriated the experiences acquired through reading religious texts from various traditions. The objective of this essay was to comment on María Zambrano's points of contact with the preceding religious tradition that could intervene in the support of her poetic reason and finally propose its applicability to medical training. The philosophy of experience proposed by María Zambrano is committed to the defense of various rationalities and is based on the role of individual and social experience in the construction of knowledge and on a humanist ethic that stands out for its links with interculturality, tolerance and hope even in times of crisis. The identification with the suffering of the other that accompanied his compassionate philosophy is the full identification not only with the pain of the other, but also with the state of the historical being.
