OLIVAS PRIETO, Héctor José y TKOCZ, Izabela. Dissenting Voices in Conservative Contexts: Histories of Inclusion, Exclusion, and Resistance at COBACH in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua. Debates hist. [online]. 2026, vol.14, n.1, pp.159-184. Epub 17-Abr-2026. ISSN 2594-2956. https://doi.org/10.54167/debates-por-la-historia.v14i1.2074.
This article analyzes experiences of inclusion and exclusion, among individuals of the LGBTIQ+ community at the Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Chihuahua Plantel 14, located in Cuauhtemoc. Adopting a qualitative approach, the study draws on semistructured interviews with former students and teachers to document narratives that reveal patterns of discrimination, institutional omission, and limited training in matters of gender and sexual diversity. Grounded in the principles of oral history, the research prioritizes participants’ voices in order to reconstruct their school trajectories within a sociocultural environment marked by conservative norms. The findings suggest ongoing processes of curricular invisibility of non-normative gender and sexual identities, insufficient attention to mental health, and the presence of isolated teaching practices that operate without clear institutional support. In this context, the article calls for a critical reconsideration of the school’s role in environments where heteronormativity remains hegemonic and highlights the need for more inclusive and diversity-responsive educational practices.
