Resumen

RAMIREZ MARTINELL, Alberto  y  GONZALEZ MARTINEZ, José Ricardo. Digital transculturation: reflection on a permanent change in higher education. Emerg. trends educ. [online]. 2024, vol.7, n.13, pp.89-102.  Epub 15-Nov-2024. ISSN 2594-2840.  https://doi.org/10.19136/etie.a7n13.6297.

As part of a series of reflections from a postdoctoral project¹, this essay presents the notion of digital teacher transculturation in higher education, addressing the evolution of computational and informational culture towards a digital culture and its permanent transition. This transition began with the emergence of personal computers with graphical user interfaces and the explosion of software packages, a condition that transformed computer use and its integration into higher education institutions, leading to the production and consumption of digital content, giving rise to a permanent acculturation in the use of ICTs.

From this scenario, a reflection is made on the transformation of digital culture in higher education, considering the technological evolution, the appropriation of computational knowledge and digital expertise as cultural elements from a digital dimension, using the concept of digital transculturation as a theoretical framework to understand this constantly evolving process. Addressing digital transculturation as a process of continuous change, influenced by the adoption of new technologies and the digitization of culture, this essay analyzes the adaptation of teachers to this transition, highlighting the stages of resistance, adaptation, and appropriation of digital culture in educational practice.
