This article advocates the defense of a principialist model, pointing out what are the virtues and opportunities. At the same time, the main criticisms received and possible responses to them are presented. The work pays particular attention to the problems of relativism, discretion and indeterminacy; Through the use of cases, it is exemplified how judges argue coherent responses under a principled approach. It is concluded that indeterminacy, despite being an element present in every system, can be diminished through a rational and coherent argument based on the fundamental principles of our legal system, especially those of a constitutional nature.
