Resumen

ALVAREZ-CHIMAL, Rafael et al. Green chemistry in the synthesis of nanoparticles and their antibacterial properties. Mundo nano [online]. 2025, vol.18, n.34, e69826.  Epub 25-Feb-2025. ISSN 2448-5691.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485691e.2025.34.69826.

When we hear about nanoparticles, we typically think of their small size or wide range of applications; however, we rarely focus on their synthesis, which is the most important aspect because it determines the size and properties of nanoparticles. To synthesize them, there are many procedures, ranging from those that require the use of dangerous reagents or long times to those that are environmentally friendly. Green chemistry is an eco-friendly method that is gaining relevance because of its ease, speed, and sustainability. This approach utilizes natural resources and bioactive compounds that act as reducing, stabilizing, and coating agents, making the process more efficient in practically a single step. Among the various properties of nanoparticles is their antibacterial capacity, which demonstrates that when interacting with bacteria, they trigger a series of processes that culminates in the elimination of microorganisms. This article explores the various resources available for the synthesis of nanoparticles using the green chemistry approach, the factors that influence the synthesis, and the antibacterial properties attributed to these nanomaterials.
