The general objective of the essay is to analyze the theoretical conceptions of Artificial Intelligence (A) in order to determine its benefits and challenges in higher education with respect to its implementation by teachers and students. AI has changed different aspects of our daily, academic, and professional lives. In the educational field, it is a powerful tool to transform once again what is taught and how it is learned, offering more than limiting new opportunities to update and integrate technology in the classroom. In this essay, it is based on a documentary investigation of reports, articles, generally from research analyzed with an interpretive approach, part that explores how AI can be integrated in education, implications, in the classroom, in the roles of the teacher and the student, opportunities and challenges in higher education. The results and conclusions obtained seek to influence the implications of updating, equity, and ethics, among others, that we must keep in mind.
