VILLA AVENDANO, Anelí. The politics of memory in Argentina during the kirchner governments. Biolex [online]. 2023, vol.15, e350. Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 2007-5545. https://doi.org/10.36796/biolex.v15i26.350.
The Kirchnerist governments (2003-2015) marked a watershed in the memory policies of the last military dictatorship in Argentina, allowing memory sites to be established and numerous trials to be initiated that are today an international reference in matters of human rights. However, this generated a process of institutionalization of memory that has had political consequences for the social movement. The objective of this article is to investigate some sociohistorical factors that made it possible to reach this process of nationalization, reviewing the central role that the human rights movement had in the design of these policies and the tensions that were generated within them. The policies undertaken are critically analyzed, highlighting the importance of maintaining the dynamic nature of the memories to avoid their stagnation.
