GARCIA VALLADARES, Miguel Enrique. Industrial development and appropriation of space: the case of spaniards in Puebla and Oaxaca during the nineteenth century. Tzintzun. Rev. estud. históricos [online]. 2025, n.81, pp.159-184. Epub 25-Abr-2025. ISSN 2007-963X. https://doi.org/10.35830/treh.vi81.1802.
From a particular perspective, this article analyses the Spanish merchants’ textile industry expansion between 1840 and 1902. This text considers the space as a social product and territory as its appropriation and valuation. Based on this view, the article examines the strategic aspects of settling factories, the development of socio-economic links for control in those places and the ranges of those links. Those aspects show the continuities, changes, and limits of the spatial practices of the Spanish colony in the States of Puebla and Oaxaca, during the nineteenth century.
