The aims of this articule are: 1. Describing the value that students assign to the institutional conditions that the Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto offers to support their entry, permanence and gradu ation; and 2. Identify possible causes of the slowdown in studies at the Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto from the students’ perspec tive. A simple descriptive cross-sectional design was used for this study. For the description of the students’ academic performance, it made use of institutional grade records. A self-administered online digital survey was also applied to all re-enrolled and readmitted stu dents from all the courses of the Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto in 2018. The best valued institutional conditions are those related to the academic information received, relationships with other students as an aid to integration into the university and the duration of the entrance course. The rigidity of the serializations of the study plans, the difficulties of some subjects and the employment situation of the students are perceived as the most frequent causes of slowing down of studies.
