TORRES-RUIZ, René. The 2021 elections in Mexico: background, current events and projections into the near future. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2024, vol.31, n.89, pp.9-43. Epub 24-Ene-2024. ISSN 1665-0565. https://doi.org/10.32870/eees.v31i89.7300.
This article aims to describe and analyze what happened in the federal midterm elections of June 6, 2021, regarding the participation and results achieved by the two electoral coalitions: “Va por México”, composed surprisingly of former rivals: PRI, PAN and PRD; and the coalition “Juntos Hacemos Historia”, made up of Morena, the PT and the PVEM. These two political blocs starred in another episode of the plot that has taken place in Mexico for some years: a binary political scenario, that is, composed of two radically opposed sides; a scene where the sharp break between two visions of the country is appreciated.
