SOVARZO, José. The mercantile circulation between the Río de la Plata region, Santiago in the Kingdom of Chile and Bajo Peru in the late eighteenth century according to the records of the Customs of Buenos Aires. Am. Lat. Hist. Econ [online]. 2024, vol.31, n.3, e1439. Epub 17-Feb-2025. ISSN 2007-3496. https://doi.org/10.18232/20073496.1439.
This paper examines the commercial circulation between the Río de la Plata region, Santiago in the Kingdom of Chile and Bajo Peru in the period 1779-1783 through the use of customs notes from Buenos Aires. By examining this documentary source, the intensity and density of contacts between the above-mentioned economies can be quantified. The data obtained demonstrate the importance of this trade route for the whole of the South American economies in the late nineteenth century and the centrality of the economies of Mendoza, San Juan and Santiago in the Kingdom of Chile in the trade route analyzed.
