In order to evaluate the learning styles of freshmen medical students the Honey-Alonso questionnaire was applied to 569 students. Also the relation of learning styles was correlated with gender, former high school and final grade in one subject. Change in style was also evaluated. The reflexive style had the highest frequency and the lower the active style. Theoric style prevailed in males and pragmatic in females. Private schools were less reflexive than public schools. No change in the styles was observed; no correlation with final grades. Public school females obtained the lowest grades, while females from private schools, the highest.
