By means of a bibliometrical analysis of the academic review Salud Problema the author describes the development of some relevant subjects taught in the Master in Social Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, in Mexico, in which this institution's experts in social medicine have been trained. The author identifies in a diachronic study different types of jobs, subthemes and trends. The statistic analysis allows to explain precisely continuity, recurrents and absences in the subjects tackled by social medicine and shows the main contributions of this scientific field to the study of collective health. The findings may contribute to make richer the contents of the academic programs in public health, social medicine and social sciences applied to health.
