This article aims to review the state of the art of International Relations to offer the reader a panoramic view of its theoretical development since its incorporation into the social sciences at the beginning of the 20th century -as a result of the end of the First World War- and up to the present day, marked by globalization in the 21st century. It helps understand the international dynamics surrounding each theoretical debate, which have had impact at the ontological, epistemological or methodological level to answer to the transformations of reality, emphasizing the fourth debate as a turning point in the discipline.
