This essay analyzes the way populism reaches for history as an instrument to implement political agendas. The idea of “becoming aware of our history” is proposed as an analytical observation threshold for populism political practices and reviews how democratic disaffection facilitates populism irruption as a complex phenomenon that takes hand of strategic, ideological and discursive dimensions to become a political option with great citizen support. Finally, look at the political effects that populism brings to democratic regimens.
