The objective of this article is to analyze the relevance of a specific public policy, contrasting its design with the context and needs it seeks to solve. The authors analyze the case of the Cruzada Nacional contra el hambre and the composition of family income, showing the application of similar measures in spite of the socioeconomic heterogeneity of the target population. They applied from multivariate statistical methods to official data (ENIGH 2012) with the idea of obtain conglomerate results. These results demonstrate the need for fundamental changes in the design and implementation of the program to meet its objectives and address the socioeconomic challenges prevailing in Mexico.
