El objetivo de esta nota crítica es analizar la forma en que el laberinto o la idea del laberinto está presente en las obras literarias El Perseguidor y Rayuela de Julio Cortázar. Se busca, asimismo, explicar cómo el autor utiliza esta idea tanto desde una perspectiva estructural (el laberinto como una estructura narrativa) como desde una perspectiva pragmática (el laberinto como una metáfora profunda de la existencia humana). Para ello se utilizan conceptos de las propias teorías literarias de Cortázar, con el fin de profundizar en algunas figuras literarias como el túnel y los intersticios en relación con la mitología y la búsqueda de otras realidades. Al final de la nota, esta idea del laberinto es comparada con la música jazz bebop de Charlie Parker, artista que influyó en las obras de Cortázar y fue la inspiración de uno de sus personajes más conocidos, Johnny Carter en el cuento El Perseguidor.

The main aim of this critical note is to analyze the way in which the labyrinth whether as a concept or a symbol, is present in El Perseguidor and Rayuela, two of the most important fictional works of Julio Cortázar. It also seeks to explain the way in which the author uses this the labyrinth from both a structural perspective (as a narrative structure), and a pragmatic point of view, (as a profound metaphor of human existence). To this end, some important concepts from Cortázar’s own literary theories are used to explore further literary figures and symbols like the tunnel or interstices in relation to Mythology and the constant search of other realities. Towards the end of the article, this idea of the labyrinth is compared to the Bebop music of Charlie Parker, an artist who had a major influence in Cortázar’s work and who played an important role as the inspiration for the main character, Johnny Carter, in Cortazar’s short story El Perseguidor.
